Baby James Update

Baby James and family have made it home back in Georgia, but unfortunately James’s heart function is declining.

Prayer Requests:

That James would miraculously start to improve, and that he will not need another surgery anytime soon. If he does not improve, that he will at least stay stable for a while before surgery is needed.

That we will be able to gain clarity and feel confident in choosing which type replacement valve to use, if a replacement is needed.

That James’s breathing would fully return to normal, and that it would not require a lot of increases in diuretics to stay stable.

That his incision continues to heal and does not cause him pain, especially as he starts moving around more freely and resumes tummy time.

That James is kept from sickness during his recovery period. On our flight home, we were sitting next to someone who was coughing the whole flight, so we pray he did not catch anything.

That Greer is able to catch up at work when he returns to the office next week, and that we are able to adjust to our new normal with new medications, appointments, and feeding needs.

Update for this week....Thanks again for your prayers/support/cards! Completed an MRI and received 2nd opinon at City of Hope (CoH). COH was 180 degree difference. No radiation, do chemo after another biopsy using PET Scan as reference, then surgery. CoH review of PET Scan was much more detailed. One area of tumor is highly active grade 3 = more risk. Radiologist agrees with 2nd Opinion-Chemo. Working on moving to CoH care team ASAP.

Baby James Update:

James was discharged last Friday evening, but re-admitted less than 24 hours later after mom and dad noticed that his breathing was labored. They found fluid in his lungs and treated him with diuretics. He will remain in hospital until fluid is gone.

Prayers that fluid will be gone, valve operation does not worsen, and his echos this week look stable.

Thanks for your continued prayers/support/cards! A lot has happened since my last status. I will have a 2nd opinion with City of Hope next week.The PET scan was nominal, except for the masses, which were localized. Radiation is the preferred treatment and no chemo. I will have another MRI and Rad simulation before starting actual radiation in a few weeks. Official diagnosis is Liposarcoma, equally rare, but thus far not as fast growing as originally thought. No metastasized, nor is it a problem to wait until after radiation for the surgery. Back pain is slightly decreased, still managed with pain meds. Drs and staff have been a blessing!
