My partner David's sister, Raquel, had a baby boy last night, Sebastian. She is doing well, but the baby has a few complications and is in the NICU unit. Her doctors were very concerned, but he is starting to do a bit better now.

On 4th of July Ryan Rogers' Aunt Serene passed away peacefully in her sleep from Alzheimer's disease.
There are so many emotions and memories going on right now with the family. Please pray for comfort and peace. She will be missed by many.

Baby James out of surgery #3
We are thrilled to report that James is doing really well so far! His surgery lasted about 6 hours and everything went as they expected. His surgeon told us that James’s native valve tissue was a mess, we are very glad we chose to do surgery when we did. He came out of surgery with a good heart rhythm and his heart squeezing well.

Prayer Requests:
Speech therapy will be starting on Monday to work with him taking a bottle again. He hasn’t taken a bottle in 6+ weeks, so this will be a big step towards a more “normal” life.
Pray that his pain can be controlled as he comes off of sedation, and that he can start feeling like himself again over the next week.
Pray that he does not develop any infections with his central line, arterial line, chest tubes, or incisions. Also that he won’t get sick with any viruses or respiratory illnesses during his recovery.
To get the chest tube removed, his lungs need to stop accumulating so much fluid. So please pray that the diuretics he is on will help keep the fluid build up at bay. Eventually, he will need to come down off of such strong diuretics, but for now they are a good thing.
Pray for all of the other kids that are here in the hospital right now— specifically the children of heart families we know: Caroline, Naomi, Vivi Kate, and Slohn.
This is what his mechanical valve looks like. In this photo it looks large, but the one he had placed is smaller than a dime.
We hope it is years before we see this view again.

Betty Rogers
We are asking for prayers for healing and comfort. She fell last week and broke her hip in her back yard. She is now out of surgery and is at home starting her journey to healing. Prayers for her and family taking care of her as she works to get back on her feet.

Baby James
We wish we were writing this post with better news to share, but James’s echo yesterday showed significantly elevated lung pressures. This is the most significant risk factor that his cardiologist has been watching out for, so he decided that it is time to get the ball rolling on surgery number three. This surgery will be a mitral valve replacement. His heart is still very small and he is very young, but six months ago today we first heard the term heart failure. He was much younger and smaller at that time. So we have hope that the progress he has made will be enough.
Today we will be deciding which type of replacement to do, which hospital to do the surgery at, and which surgeon to do the surgery. Please pray that we will have clarity and peace with whatever we decide. James’s cardiologist has been extremely helpful and has provided us with a lot of information and support as we make these decisions. We are very thankful to have such a caring and involved doctor on James’s team.
Mitral valve replacements in babies are very rare, and there are only a couple dozen babies that have this type of surgery each year in the United States. We have spoken with other families who have been in our situation and some have children who are thriving, and some have required more surgeries and are not doing as well. We don’t know what path this next surgery will take us down but we know God will be with us, and with James.
Despite his circumstances he is still a happy boy. His favorite things right now is playing with toys, reading books, listening to The Happy Song, and learning to roll over. Our favorite thing is waking up to him smiling at us every morning.

Paul Adams has had multiple recurrences of cancer over the last four decades. A few days ago several new tumors were discovered in his neck and brain. He is nearly blind and in intense pain. He just doesn't feel up to going through treatment once again.

Pastor Ted”s update 4/29:
1. Thank you for your prayers! We are feeling God's grace and power as a result.
2. Surgery pre-op is Monday, May 5.
3. My surgery date is Wednesday, May 14, at 7:30am, at the City of Hope Duarte facility.
4. I will be in the hospital for 3-5 days following surgery.
5. Surgery may be moved up if there is a cancellation next week.
