Family Promise Host Week at FCC
February 7-14, 2016

As the dust settles on the new year it is time to start preparations for our next host week. Listed below are the ways you can help out. Please see me or refer to the Family Promise Bulletin Board in Sippel Hall for details and sign-up lists.

Set-Up and Take-Down: Help put together and then disassemble the rooms the families will be staying in. Set-up occurs after church on Sunday, 2/7 and take-down will happen on Sunday morning before church, 2/14. This process takes about an hour.

Hosting: Evening Hosts (5:30-8:30 pm) eat and socialize with our guests each night. Overnight Hosts (8:30 pm-7:00 am) sleep at the church and are on call in case of an emergency. These times are flexible if you need to come later or leave earlier.

Providing Dinner: Each night we provide a hot meal for our guests and for our Evening Hosts. This can be done by the Evening Host team or by a separate team altogether.

Donations: This includes the donation of food staples for breakfast and lunch, consumable donations for grooming and entertainment, and items that will make our families more comfortable in their rooms. Please refer to the specific lists and sign-up sheets on the bulletin board in Sippel Hall.

Monetary Donations: These defray the costs of the evening meal and help stock our kitchen pantry. Please make checks payable to FCC Torrance, but give to me for record keeping purposes.

Here’s to another fabulous week!

Dear Sisters,
The 23rd PSWR Women’s Convocation is fast approaching (March 4th & 5th) and I hope all of you will be registering to attend and welcome our sisters from around the region into our Church Home. We need to try to house some women who are not able to afford a hotel room and would like to come. Some of you have already let me know that you can open up a room in your home for these women. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are able to share your hospitality in this way.

As we all do when we have guests coming over we prepare our home. We are planning a church clean up day on Saturday, February 27th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon to prepare our home to receive our guests. We hope you will come and help us spruce our home to receive our guests. I’ll have a sign up posted in Sippel Hall.

On Friday, March 4th if you are able to come to the church in the morning to help set up for Convocation your help would be greatly appreciated. We will also need anyone (man/woman) who would be able to be at the church after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5th to help prepare the church for Sunday’s services.

Our mission project for Convocation will be receiving items for Family Promise and HIS House.

I look forward to seeing all of you at Convocation. If you have any questions about convocation, please give me a call or text me at 310-872-6253 or send an email to Thinkingflower@yahoo.com.

In Christ,
Shirley Woodman
